Earth Awake

They sit at Day-break, together weaving magic and through time and space. A gift, a spark, an understanding, they smile across a distance, which is also as near as a sacred embrace.

They shake bowls and rattles filled with sand, waiting for the New World to hatch. Their songs are like Oceans, calling in the birth of our greatest potential.

The Canoe Crafter glides through the peaceful lake waters with one of the many canoes he has made. He calls like the loon, knowing that soon the jewel of a white flower will rise from the muddy depths.

Even under the burning haze of chemicals sprayed on her crops, wheat breathes. She rounds up her belly; she protects the germ of the life there.

This being blends tastes, colors, forms and smells to spice not only our foods - but also our lives! What spices up our lives to add flavor and variety?

She sits at the Buddha’s feet, laughing. Her laughter is a balm that spreads to touch the heart of grief, sadness and pain - she is the Shapeshifter honoring release and the return of spring.

She bristles and brustles over the forest floor, her unbrushed hair catching sticks and seeds. She plants the seeds in her overflowing garden, inviting all forest creatures to dine - including spiders, owls and bats.

She holds her treasures until the perfect wave comes, bringing them to the perfect person in the perfect present moment. What divine timing!

Water is Life. She sits at the blossoming shore, singing with the waves and blessing the rain. She laughs in streams, and rivers are her veins. She reminds you - with the flame at the center of your heart, bring love to the waters of this worlds - and to the waters that you are.

She sits at the ancient-earth stone sphere, breathing light and air. She flows like the waters, softening the edges, illuminating the Fire of Truth.

She is the fertile earth for New Life to grow. The Black Madonna, like the blossoming rose, knows how to let her heart shine forward.

She rolls sideways down hills, eats berries from thorn bushes, laughs with the smiling moon. She shows you the way to your worth, the gold of your Heart that shines like a Sun in the dark.

With Horsehair, fine wool and duff from the forest floor, The Nest Builder makes a safe home for all to come and nestle. (This was actually a found bird’s nest - one of the most beautiful I have seen!)

She dances in spirals, midwifing the soul to evolve and be birthed into expanding dimensions.

He sits high on the mountain peak, smiling as the rivers flow from his feet. He can see like an eagle, watching the movements of the world and how all things are connected.

She screams like a wild (and also peaceful and gleeful) banshee, releasing one world and calling in the New.

She sits tall, radiant and aligned. Stories shine from her womb, her Heart, her third eye. She knows the power of the circle, where the sacredness of every Heart is alive.

The Wildflower Goddess steps over morning-dew and cascades of wildflowers. She gathers these up in bundles, as reminders of the beauty and pleasure of the wild in each of us.

Sultan of the Sea slowly spins with the underwater snails. Spiraling and smiling, he remembers the Joy of slowness.

Sitting on a simple mat, the Pearl Prayer reminds us that pearls are created from a simple grain of sand.

She knows the Sacred Fire burns in all of us. She tends this, making sure that Fire never goes out. With sparks in her hair and a Phoenix shell on her head, she fans the flame of our being.

With a hat filled with sparkling gold dust and a cloak filled with treasures, she inscribes ancient symbols on wood bark. These symbols light on fire our heart’s deepest desires, showing us the way forward.

Even in the gripping frosts of the arctic, new life is tended to and nurtured. This is the Grandmother which can hold life in adverse conditions with the warmth of her heart-hearth she has tended to for many years.

Lovely as the Full Moon, Oshun gazes at herself in a mirror. Oshun is the Goddess who is also the River. She is both Compassion and Pleasure. She is Love. During the making of the world, the others Gods did not think of her as necessary. They soon found that Life could not be without Oshun; Life needs Water, Life needs beauty, Life needs Love.

Oh, the luscious juice, the glorious peel and pulp, the sticky sweetness of it all! The Papaya Preacher can expound for hours in praise of a precious papaya fruit.

Mother Sage sits with child Sage-Bundle. Together they breathe onto the land, clearing, cleansing, and blessing.

As the Golden Eye lowers its gaze before Night, Sky gives birth to Fire. Some say that at the last moment before the golden eye shuts, one can see a green blaze flash across the sky…

She spends her days climbing vines and swinging into lakes, howling and snorting. She has a very regal manner even with her wild heart, and her throne is grown of twisting vines with bright orange trumpet flowers.

A great friend to poet and wordsmiths of all kinds, the Word-Maker loves words of all shapes, sizes and textures. Her favorite words are "eccentricity" and "incongruous".

Her songs echo in the underground caves; here, she bathes in crystal waters, presses rubies into bedrock, and braids chthonic streams into serpents.

She sits on the dreaming-glass, singing of butterflies and death and seeds…She is the one who smiles over the new life breaking out of its shell…

Joined at the hip with sweet honey, these two sing in turquoise resonance. The hands of sky placed a silver cloud upon their crowns; it is a cloud which is raining a silver, purifying rain.

Cords come in many configurations- cords of spider silk, energetic cords, umbilical cords. In the right circumstances, there is a time for each of these to nourish and to impart their wisdom. Then there is a time for each of these to wither and to fall away of their own ac-cord. Yet even without a cord, connection somehow remains!
