EARTH AWAKE

Dreaming and Somatics Research Group

What are our dreams telling us?

This has been a question that has occupied me since I was a child. My mother, a dream researcher with a background in Jungian psychology, passed down this interest to me early on. Since then, I have been exploring my dreams through story, sculpture, dance, painting, poetry, and meditation. It has been an onion peeling journey which continues to guide, fascinate and foster awareness of both my humanness and our multi-dimensional nature.

WHY somatics?

Specifically, working with dreams through the body has been a way for me to access deeper layers of insight, illumination and integration in my life. This means using not only the mind, but also movement, sound, breath and touch to come to a more expansive understanding and experience of dreams. This somatic approach goes far beyond what a dream dictionary can tell us, as we are each an individual human with individual experiences and associations.

And beyond…

For the last few years I have also been a dedicated dreamer in the Kiva Dreaming Lodge, rooted in a 32,000 year old tradition called the Delicate Lodge Teachings. This evolution of dream work introduced me to the possibility of dreaming not only for ourselves, but also for the collective. There is so much potential in our dreaming!

Alongside private sessions, I am currently searching others interested in this topic to form a regular and committed group.

This could be for you if:

  • You have a general interest in dreaming and/or somatics (I personally consider both psychology and spirituality to be inherent to dream work, but welcome others with other perspectives).

  • You are open to an approach where the primary research is in consulting the body, rather than external resources such as dream dictionaries (which can be used as secondary resources when there is consent).

  • While insights from others can be valuable and welcome mirrors, you hold a general respect that the dreamer holds the highest authority on the meaning of his or her own dreams.

  • Likewise, as a dreamer you hold the ultimate authority and responsibility of deciding what your dreams mean for you and how you integrate this meaning into your life.

  • You hold confidentiality in high regard, as with dream work we are often working with sensitive and deeply personal material.
